2011/2012
Gus MacPherson
One Season Failure.

By Stuart McLaren

After 10 years in the 1st Division, and a period of around 15 years when Queens had been, by and large, on the up and up, this was the season in which we experienced the disappointment of relegation for the 1st time in 23 years. The writing had been pretty much on the wall since Christmas of the previous season, new boss Gus MacPherson was left with an near impossible task of being asked to build an almost entire new side on a much reduced budget.

2011/2012 - One Step Back

Gus MacPherson came in quite late, and was asked to put together an almost totally new team as most of the players who's contracts had expired at the end of the previous season were allowed to go, on the whole to teams at either an equal or higher level to us. This proved to be just too tough a task, and Queens experienced the disappointment of relegating for the 1st time in 23 years.

There is optimism however that this could be one step back to take two forward as Queens look to be building quite a strong side for next season, and hopefully an immediate return to the 1st Division.

Davie Rae stepped down as Queens most successful Chairman of all time, to be replaced by Billy Hewitson at the end of the season, although there was a late bid by an English consortium to buy Davie's shares, which, thankfully, he rejected.

Site wise, for the 2nd year running, I cannot recall making any major changes.
