2003/2004
John Connolly & Ian Scott
Final Year Together

By Stuart McLaren

In what was to prove to be John Connolly's final season at Palmerston, Queens went from strength to strength as for 5 heady weeks we sat at the top of the 1st Division, and finished the season in our best league position for many years. However, when St. Johnstone came calling at the end of the season, Connolly had no hesitation in returning to his first love.

2003/2004 - Why Are We So Good?

The Palmerston trophy cabinet was bare for the first time in two years this season, but it was a no less exciting season for us. From the middle of October, Queens sat top of the first Division for 5 weeks, and went on to secure a very comfortable 5th place finish, which although the same as the previous year, felt so much better as it was only 3 points from 3rd.

The other highlight of the year was 2 away cup games to Premier League opposition. Although beaten in both of them, the size of Queens travelling support on both occasions took the SPL by surprise, on a Wednesday night in Edinburgh, 1800 Queens fans totally overwhelmed 2 Easter Road turnstile operators, and in January nearly 3000 made their way up the M74 to face a slightly more prepared, but still trying to get away with only opening half a stand, Motherwell.

Site wise, I started to use a bit of php programing towards the end of the season, which was to herald the dawn of a new, more interactive Only Team In The Bible.
